Storage solution for VMware infrastructure environments combines Emulex and Cisco technologies

SAN FRANCISCO -- EmulexCorporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced a tested storage networkingsolution combining Emulex and Cisco technology for VMware virtualizedserver environments. The solution, which combines Emulex LightPulse(r)4Gb/s host bus adapters (HBAs) with the Cisco MDS family of FibreChannel switches, provides customers with the functionality to maintainSAN best practices, along with improved Quality of Service (QoS), dataprotection, and chargeback capabilities.

This solution allows end users to effectively 'virtualize' the SANconnection such that each virtual machine has independent access to itsown protected storage ensuring greater storage security and enhancedmanagement and migration of virtual machines. To help customers deploythe solution, Emulex, Cisco and VMware created a Solution Guide thatprovides data center users with practical use cases and deploymentscenarios for maximizing and understanding the benefits of N-Port IDVirtualization (NPIV) technology within a VMware environment.
