NEW DELHI, India -- DLF Ltd, India's largest real estate development company, has awarded IBM (NYSE:IBM - News) a 10 year contract to transform and manage DLF's IT Infrastructure. DLF will leverage IBM's infrastructure management expertise to secure a high quality information backbone that will be managed in a cost-effective manner. Currently a US$29 million contract, this could multiply on the back of DLF's growth plans.

Under this agreement, IBM Global Technology Services will implement and maintain policies, standards, technology and delivery infrastructure, and standardize them as part of a broader transformation, across more than 20 locations in India. IBM will undertake security and disaster recovery planning, deploy a complete organization security framework and check security readiness for ISO 27000. IBM will be responsible for Helpdesk and Deskside support to DLF users across India and be responsible for all IT Infrastructure operations. The solution will support the current IT requirements of existing DLF businesses, as well as enable DLF to roll out new business initiatives with speed, providing a predictable cost of IT for DLF as it grows.

As part of the partnership IBM and DLF will also set up a Technology Innovation Council (TIC) with joint participation. The TIC will focus on identifying and deploying new solutions for DLF and Indian Real estate industry. Some of the solutions under consideration are advanced security management solutions like Digital Video Surveillance, utilizing technology for land acquisition process and other management systems. Some of the other focus areas would include IT solutions for building management and intelligent buildings.

Rajeev Singh, Vice Chairman DLF said, "We are exultant to form an association with the technology major IBM, as it would help us innovate robust solutions for the real estate sector, by using the expertise of both the companies, that are amongst the best players in their own sectors."
