HAVANT, U.K. -- Xyratex Ltd. (NASDAQ:XRTX - News), a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and storage process technology, today announced that Data Domain has chosen Xyratex's RS-1603-E3-EBD Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) subsystem for use with Data Domain's DD560 Enterprise Protection Storage systems.

Data Domain is a leading provider of Enterprise Protection Storage systems for disk backup and network-based disaster recovery. Data Domain's DD560 systems are designed for use by large enterprises and data centers. Packaged as a high capacity storage expansion enclosure option, the Xyratex RS-1603-E3-EBD enhances Data Domain's solution by providing additional storage capacity and ultra high performance SAS connectivity coupled with enterprise class redundancy, scalability and serviceability. This additional storage capacity further extends Data Domain's enterprise class solutions for users that may require significant additional amounts of storage capacity for retention of local backup of data.

Data Domain's Enterprise Protection Storage systems free IT managers from the operational inefficiencies, risks and cost associated with tape backup.
