SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Chelsio Communications Inc., a provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet unified wire solutions, today announced at VMworld 2007 that it has joined the VMware Community Source program, an innovative program that provides tools and resources for collaborative development effort, including access to the source code and APIs for VMware products.

The VMware Community Source program combines the best elements of open source and enterprise development, allowing partners to advance their level of functionality, enhance interoperability with VMware products and dramatically reduce the time to market of virtualization solutions for their customers.

As part of the VMware Community Source program, Chelsio is expected to work closely with VMware to extend integration of Chelsio 10GbE T3 unified wire engine solutions with VMware ESX Server. The VMware Community Source program will facilitate this effort through source access and a development model that allows efficient delivery of differentiated product capabilities featuring integration with VMware software.

The benefits that virtualization creates for enterprise customers are well established and we’re excited about our continuing collaboration with VMware,” said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. “Our T3 architecture has been designed from the ground-up to meet the virtualized I/O capabilities of the VMware ESX Server environment.”
