LAS VEGAS -- Pivot3 Inc, the inventor of high-definition storage based on distributed RAID, today announced that The 101 Casino in Petaluma, Calif., has deployed the Pivot3 High-Definition Storage system based on the Pivot3 RAIGE (RAID Across Gigabit Ethernet) technology. As a result of a recent renovation, the casino installed a state-of-the-art digital surveillance system, where video applications from three different vendors share the same iSCSI SAN storage from Pivot3. By consolidating and virtualizing its storage, The 101 Casino is now able to manage video more effectively and increase its security.

Traditionally, each software application would require its own separate storage system. With Pivot3 High-Definition Storage, all three applications with streaming video can now utilize one storage system, resulting in a more flexible, scalable and easier-to-manage environment. Petards, Inc. delivers one of the three applications, its Universal Video Management System (UVMS), which provides The 101 Casino with the ability to record and control all aspects of gaming surveillance, as well as general premises security surveillance.

“I am very happy with the industry-standard nature of the system we have designed,” says Randy Yaple, The Casino 101 general manager. “The components we have assembled, including the cameras, the applications, and the storage enable us to expand and upgrade our surveillance system over the long term. I expect to get many years of service from this solution without having to make big investments every few years.”
