CAMPBELL, Calif. -- Barracuda Networks, Inc., the worldwide leader in email and Web security appliances, today announced new features that will enable the Barracuda IM Firewall to export complete IM conversations to a message archiving solution, such as the Barracuda Message Archiver.

The Barracuda IM Firewall was one of the first IM appliances to incorporate an IM server with public IM traffic monitoring, IM archiving and policy management technologies. Using the Barracuda IM Firewall, customers can monitor and log all internal IM traffic over the internal server as well as all public IM traffic over popular public IM channels such as Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, Google and ICQ. The latest features will now allow Barracuda IM Firewall customers to archive their IM traffic on a separate device, freeing up space on the Barracuda IM Firewall and allow centralized management of both email and IM communication.

Most organizations recognize the importance of archiving email messages for both legal and regulatory compliance reasons, however, most organizations do not yet have a practical way to archive their IM traffic,” said Stephen Pao, vice president of product management for Barracuda Networks. “The reality is that IM communication is subject to many of the same regulations as email so it is crucial that organizations archive this communication.”
