ARMA Assists MoReq2
ARMA is assisting in the development of the second release of the Model Requirements for Electronic Records Management specification (MoReq2)
January 31, 2007
MINNEAPOLIS -- ARMA International is one of the many organizations assisting in the development of the second release of the Model Requirements for Electronic Records Management specification, also known as MoReq2.
The European Commission has awarded its 300,000 contract to Cornwell Management Consultants to develop the international information management standard. MoReq2 will become the primary guide used by ERM system suppliers, developers and service providers. It will also include a framework for an official software certification testing regime. Cornwell created the original MoReq in 2000 which gained international recognition as the standard for electronic records management (ERM) systems.
Organizations developing and implementing an ERM system based on MoReq2 can be assured that records will be properly managed, accessible at all times, retained for as long as they are required and properly disposed of once the retention period has ended.
Cornwell is seeking the input from users, suppliers and consultants throughout the development phase. The author’s work will be monitored by an editorial review panel comprised of international ERM experts. The final approval will be given by the European Commission in association with the European DLM Forum.
MoReq2 has gained support from a wide variety of groups from the ERM community. Suppliers providing support include: Adobe, CA, EMC, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and SAP. Industry specialists providing support include: ARMA International, BCC Services, Captaris, Dexmar, Docuware, SER Solutions and Tower Software. For more information about MoReq2, please visit http://www.moreq2.eu/.
