CAMPBELL, Calif. -- APTARE, Inc., a leading provider of Web 2.0-based enterprise storage reporting and management software, today announced that it has renewed its global partnership with Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and a provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions. Under the agreement, Hitachi Data Systems is leveraging the APTARE StorageConsole 6.5 platform to power Hitachi Storage Capacity Reporter, part of the newly introduced Hitachi Storage Command Suite. Over the past three years, both companies have collaborated to deliver management tools that help organizations effectively manage their primary storage and complex backup and recovery environments.

Customers using the combined Hitachi Storage Capacity Reporter with APTARE's StorageConsole 6.5 Web 2.0 technology are able to gain valuable insight into their storage utilization to best optimize their storage resources and reduce costs. (See the separate Hitachi Storage Capacity Manager announcement from last week here.) Hitachi Storage Capacity Manager powered by APTARE delivers a 360-degree view of an organization's heterogeneous storage without the need for host agents. This is achieved through Web 2.0 and AJAX technologies that create real-time interactive reports as well as historical capacity views, forecasting and predictive analysis.

"As customers continue to face the daunting challenge of managing and retaining more data, it's critical that their management solutions provide both scalability and flexibility," said Peter Smails, senior director, global product marketing, Hitachi Data Systems. "The combination of our new Hitachi Storage Command Suite and its backup and recovery reporting features powered by APTARE's StorageConsole 6.5 technology provides customers with unique monitoring capabilities so they can best manage, report and optimize their complex storage environments."
