AMCC announces new general manager for its storage business unit

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), a global leader in embedded Power Architecture(TM) processing, optical transport, and storage solutions, today announced the appointment of Russ Johnson as senior vice president and general manager of its Storage Business Unit, succeeding Barbara Murphy. Mr Johnson brings a strong knowledge of the storage industry as well as broad relationships with the distribution channel and major Tier 1 storage vendors.

Most recently, Russ was in a senior executive role at Adaptec as the vice president of Worldwide Sales. Prior to this, Russ held several management positions during the eleven years he spent at Adaptec, including vice president and general manager of International Sales & Marketing and OEM Global Account Director.

"Russ has a proven track record of major accomplishments in the storage world and will be a tremendous asset to our company.
