SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Abaca Technology Corporation, an innovator in email protection and messaging security, today announced a new anti-spam technology for small to medium businesses that delivers the highest accuracy rate in the industry. Based on a sophisticated algorithm that uses receiver reputation to precisely differentiate spam from legitimate messages, Abaca's breakthrough solution is designed to achieve a 99 percent spam catch rate with less than one false positive in 20,000 emails.

"Many people regard the email security industry as already overcrowded," said Steve Kirsch, founder, chairman of the board, and chief executive officer of Abaca Technology Corporation. "However, we're not just another entrant using the same ineffective technologies everyone else does. Abaca's approach to spam filtering is novel, simple, and highly effective. We are first to market with a disruptive new technology that virtually eliminates spam-and we are offering it at a price point that is extremely competitive for small to medium businesses."

The core of Abaca's Email Protection Gateway is ReceiverNet, a proprietary, patent-pending technology that works in any language and protects against existing and future spam techniques. ReceiverNet operates on the principle that an email message is more likely to be legitimate if it is sent to recipients that typically receive a low percentage of spam. Conversely, an email message is more likely to be spam when sent to recipients that typically receive a high percentage of spam. ReceiverNet rates messages based on each user's overall ratio of legitimate messages to spam messages.

By using the receiver's reputation to determine the likelihood that incoming messages are legitimate or not, ReceiverNet is designed to enable Abaca's Email Protection Gateway to effectively block 99 percent of spam, as well as viruses and phishing attacks. The solution automatically updates its own software and definitions, requiring near-zero system administration once it is installed.

"What a fantastic product!" said customer Steve Taffee, director of technology at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, California. "Since 2005 the email protection solution has been consistently filtering at rates above 99.9 percent. We have nothing but praise for the solution and the company."Abaca Technology Corp.
