Symantec Managed Threat Analysis offers customized assessment of targeted malware attacks
October 31, 2007
CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the worldwide availability of Managed Threat Analysis (MTA), a new service designed to provide custom protection and analysis of malware and other security risks to help enterprises defend against data theft. Symantec Global Services’ Security Response expert analysts will review sample malware or other suspicious code submitted by an organization and deliver a custom, in-depth incident analysis report developed for the organization’s specific needs and risk profile within a defined Service Level Agreement.
The Managed Threat Analysis report will help businesses understand the implications and impact of the specific malware on their systems, outline a remediation strategy and tools to safely remove the threat, and document recommendations to mitigate future attacks and improve their overall security posture. This information will help enterprises, such as financial institutions or government agencies, comply with regulatory requirements that mandate notification within a certain timeframe if any data has been compromised. Incident submissions are accepted on a 24x7 basis.
“The current security threat landscape is marked by sophisticated, targeted attacks that attempt to steal intellectual property and digital assets, which could tarnish an organization’s brand,” said Mike Mulville, senior director of product management, Symantec Managed Security Services. “Managed Threat Analysis provides a proactive outsourced solution that supplements organizations’ threat intelligence to ultimately ensure greater confidence in protecting against today’s threats and future security risks.”
