Battling security threats has become an all-consuming chore for enterprise network teams as the number and sophistication of attacks continues to grow, according to a new study released Monday.

Viavi Solutions, a supplier of network testing and monitoring technology, polled 1,035 CIOs, IT directors, and network engineers worldwide and found that 88% spend time troubleshooting security-related issues, up from 85% in 2015. Of those IT pros tackling security problems, almost 80% said they spend more time on security issues with nearly half spending up to 25% more time on security than a year ago.

Seventy percent said they spend 10 hours a week on security problems, on top of their other networking responsibilities.

Viavi's annual State of the Network report also provides insight into how security threats have evolved in the past year and how network teams track down security issues. See the infographic below for some of the key findings.
