Cloud platform vendor OpSource has been acquired by services firm Dimension Data and is slated to become a part of the company’s new Cloud Solutions business unit. OpSource is a cloud and managed hosting provider with enterprise solutions for creating and managing public, private and hybrid cloud solutions.
According to OpSource CTO John Rowell, one of the major drivers behind the acquisition is Dimension Data’s desire to accelerate its cloud strategy globally. "From a Dimension Data perspective, getting our product complements their push to have a services-led strategy and be able to provide solutions to their customers throughout the lifecycle of that customer," says Roswell.
With the acquisition by Dimension Data, Rowell says, OpSource sees an opportunity to grow its business and make new partners, especially given Dimension Data’s size, global reach and major partners, such as Cisco: "For us this is a growth acquisition, growing the cloud, growing OpSource, and getting us out more in the U.S. and getting us out to the rest of the world."
Currently, no financial terms of the acquisition have been disclosed. OpSource is based in Santa Clara, Calif., with offices located in Virginia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and India. Dimension Data is a member of the NTT Group, and its headquarters are in Johannesburg, South Africa.
