SAN DIEGO -- BakBone Software (Pink Sheets:BKBO), a leading provider of heterogeneous integrated data protection solutions, continues to enhance its breadth of technologies and bring powerful, easy-to-use products to market with the newest release of NetVault®: Backup Application Plugin Module™ (APM) for Oracle. BakBone simplifies the advanced backup and recovery features of Oracle with automated GUIs and the integration of backup devices, which allows non-Oracle administrators to easily and fully manage Oracle data protection without having to learn Oracle internals or create scripts. With NetVault: Backup APM for Oracle 5.5, customers can now protect Oracle 11g databases, experience seamless integration with the flash recovery area (FRA), simplify the duplicate database backup process, reduce downtime and lower mean time to recovery (MTTR) with the block media recovery feature.

“We continue to see Oracle lead the RDBMS market, and they are showing growing adoption of 11g,” said Carl Olofson, research vice president for Information Management and Data Integration Software research, IDC. “A wide range of manageability improvements, including tools and options, have significantly improved overall manageability for Oracle Database, but specific management tasks remain a challenge. Third party vendors like BakBone that help simplify the management of complex databases like Oracle can add significant value to organizations’ database investments.”
