SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 29. Pareto Networks today unveiled the industry's first cloud-based distributed networking solution, transforming the way businesses will deploy and operate distributed networks. Cloud-based networking delivers enterprise-class network capabilities around the globe, via a highly resilient, multi-tenant application that requires no capital investment in networking equipment.

Pareto accelerates and simplifies network deployment and operations, delivers 100% centralized visibility and control, and offers the network application as an innovative, pay-as-you-grow subscription. With Pareto, enterprises can now securely roll out distributed locations, such as teleworkers, small branch offices, or mobile workgroups in minutes, with no capital investment and the flexibility to quickly scale the network up or down as business needs change.

"The parallels are striking between networking today and customer relationship management software of ten years ago," said Matthew Palmer, co-founder and CEO of Pareto Networks. "Deploying and managing a CRM solution was overly complex, time-intensive and extremely expensive before Salesforce.com entered the picture with their cloud-based service and changed everything. The same could be said for networking; before today, enterprises had no choice but to purchase expensive equipment, build out the infrastructure and hire scores of experts to troubleshoot and keep the network running. It's time for this to change."

With its cloud-based service, Pareto eliminates the costs and complexities associated with legacy, hardware-based solutions, by bundling Ethernet, Wi-Fi and 3G-ready network appliances at no extra cost. By leveraging the cloud and existing broadband connectivity, deployment of new remote locations can be accomplished in minutes. Pareto's cloud-based application gives enterprises centralized control over all their network and security policies, and provides visibility of critical network performance metrics. "It was becoming increasingly difficult to support all of our distributed users," said Len Lombardo, CTO at Taconic Capital. "Pareto's cloud-based networking solutions removed the complexity and enabled us to quickly and cost-effectively scale to deliver full network and security services wherever our users are located."

Managed Service Providers who are looking to reduce their costs without impacting the performance of their services can also benefit from Pareto's offering. "Cloud-based network services have the ability to significantly streamline network operations and bring a comprehensive suite of services to both mid-size and distributed enterprises," said Mark Fabbi, Vice President, Distinguished Analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Vendors with a range of multi-tenant service capabilities for access, security, address management and policy control can reduce provisioning time and provide capabilities for a dynamic, distributed workforce."Pareto's fully redundant cloud services platform is distributed globally with data centers located across three continents, combining resiliency and built-in disaster recovery for the entire network infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of availability. Pareto also provides military-grade encryption and multiple layers of its own security to further guarantee the availability, dependability and integrity of the distributed network.

The company's first line of cloud-based solutions, Pareto Branch on Demand, consists of three components:
  --  Pareto Cloud Services, a multi-tenant application that centralized
      network and security policy configuration, provisioning,
      troubleshooting, address management, log management, monitoring and
      reporting;
  --  Pareto Branch Gateway devices, that deliver Ethernet, 802.11n
      Wi-Fi and 3G WWAN, along with firewall, proxy and user-based
      authentication, bundled at no cost for deployment in remote locations
      and the data center;
  --  Pareto Virtual Branch Gateway, a VMware, software-based gateway
      for the enterprise data center and securely connecting to cloud
      environments.

Pareto Cloud Services was built from the ground up, with a global multi-tenant architecture to enable large-scale, worldwide deployments from day one. Administrators can easily access and manage the network from anywhere, eliminating the need to install multiple management systems or controllers in the data center. They can even view and troubleshoot their cloud-based network anywhere, anytime using their Apple?? iPhone, iPod and iPad, with the Pareto Cloud Mobile App, also immediately available.

"We are not simply taking a legacy, single-tenant management application, hosting it, and calling it cloud-based networking. Just as Salesforce.com's multi-tenant architecture differentiated it from hosted and on-premise CRM solutions, Pareto's architecture and business model eliminates the need to purchase routers, access points, switches and firewalls to set a new standard for distributed networking," added Palmer. Pareto Branch on Demand empowers enterprises to deploy and manage their own secured, distributed network, without the burden of assembling the individual components. The solution utilizes existing Internet connectivity provisioned to a remote location, or can leverage 3G WWAN services for Internet access.

Pareto has pioneered a new approach to integrate with leading, cloud-based service providers, so that advanced network, security and application services can be added to the Pareto solution in minutes. Much like the consumer internet, where web apps like Facebook and Twitter can be paired to interoperate, Pareto customers can link other network and security applications to their distributed network via Pareto Cloud Services. By partnering and integrating with the leaders of cloud-based DNS, OpenDNS, cloud-based authentication, VeriSign, and web security-as-a-service, McAfee, Pareto is pioneering an entirely new model for network and security services integration.

"Pareto's integration with the McAfee SaaS Web Protection will provide proven cloud-based web security, offering enterprise vital defenses against web-based malware attacks," said Marc Olesen, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Content & Cloud Security for McAfee. "Together, we deliver the scale and cost-efficiency promises of the cloud in a single, easy to use solution.""The combination of cloud-based networking from Pareto Networks and two-factor authentication solutions from VeriSign delivers significant TCO savings for our customers," said Kerry Loftus, Vice President of User Authentication at VeriSign. "Our cloud-based two-factor authentication services eliminate up-front CAPEX investment and dramatically simplify the deployment and on-going management of user-based network authentication throughout the distributed network."

"Pareto truly addresses the network intelligence and scalability needs of today's network professional," said David Ulevitch, CEO of OpenDNS. "With our combined offerings, customers can leverage the economies of the cloud to deliver a complete networking solution, while providing the control and reliability needed via OpenDNSes superior cloud-based DNS solution to ensure a safer, faster, smarter and more reliable network." Pareto Branch On Demand is available immediately for an annual subscription starting at $228 per site, which includes all hardware, support, maintenance and future feature upgrades.
