IRVINE, Calif. -- Zetera Corporation, a developer of breakthrough network storage technology, today unveiled a new line of networked storage solutions targeting the needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs). The Zetera NBOD (“networked bunch of disks”) family of networked storage solutions combines the benefits of SAN with the simplicity of direct-attached storage (DAS) to bridge a gap faced by nearly all businesses during their progression into network storage.

Server storage consolidation and data protection are challenges faced by nearly every business as it matures. According to many analysts, the requirement for storage capacity is growing at over 40 percent annually. Traditional options for storage consolidation and data protection include DAS and iSCSI SANs. While the benefits of SANs are appealing to small businesses, the cost and complexity required to deploy and manage them force many businesses to stay with DAS and its shortcomings.

Zetera NBOD products are the first to offer SMBs a solution to bridge the gap between DAS and iSCSI SANs. NBOD solutions offer the networked benefits of iSCSI SANs, enabling one or more servers to share the storage of single or multiple NBOD devices. As individual servers require more storage, more capacity is allocated from the NBOD device. At the same time, NBOD solutions preserve the simplicity of DAS, requiring only general IT staff with basic skills in networking to easily deploy, configure and manage the storage system, regardless of its size.

“We’ve received overwhelming feedback from the market that the networked benefit of traditional SANs is very appealing but deployment and management is too intimidating for most mainstream users,” said Chuck Cortright, Zetera’s president and CEO. “NBOD solutions are specifically designed for smaller businesses so IT professionals can leverage their existing personnel and budget resources to enjoy the same networked benefits of far more expensive and complex solutions.”

In a separate release:IRVINE, Calif. -- Zetera Corporation, a developer of breakthrough network storage technology, today launched the Zetera Partner Program to support sales of its branded products through the North American channel. Taking advantage of the rapidly growing market for network storage, the Zetera Partner Program is specifically targeted to Value Added Resellers (VARs) that have storage or networking practices and are looking for simple, innovative storage solutions for the small to medium business market (SMBs).

Since it was first introduced in late 2005, Zetera’s popular Z-SAN® architecture has been shipped in more than 150,000 networked storage devices worldwide. Building on this success, Zetera is launching its NBOD™ (Networked Bunch of Disks) product line, which will be sold exclusively through the North American distribution channel. Zetera’s NBOD product line is the first to offer SMBs a solution to bridge the gap between DAS and iSCSI SANs.

“We have the unique opportunity to offer North American VARs the combination of a very compelling program with a highly-differentiated product line that fills a real market need," said Ryan Malone, Zetera’s Vice President of Partner and Channel Development. “We’re one-hundred percent committed to the success of our partners, and have created the Zetera Partner Program to deliver the tools and resources for them to be successful.”
