Every year at this time, Network Computing makes our picks for the best IT products and services of the past year -- the NWC Well-Connected Awards. This is no mere popularity contest. Our tech editors have spent the year testing countless products over countless hours in the NWC Real World Labs. For the awards, they relive the highs and lows of a year spent testing and reviewing producs and services in eight core areas of coverage: Security, Network & Systems Management, Enterprise Applications, Wireless, Messaging & Collaboration, Network Infrastructure, Application Infrastructure and Storage & Servers. In all, the editors chose 48 individual winners in those categories, as well as one top dog: Forum Systems' Forum XWall, which we dubbed the Most Outstanding Product of the Year.

You can read all about the Well-Connected Award Winners right now.

And later this week, we'll deliver video highlights of the Well-Connected Award ceremony, live from Las Vegas and Interop (the ceremony is Wednesday, May 3 at 6:30 Vegas time).

But for now, keep your eye on this video blog. Before leaving for Interop, we asked several of our tech editors to deliver video segments providing their thoughts on this year's WCA winners in their beat areas. Watch for their insights on this year's best IT products and services.
