Voltaire InfiniBand accelerates Oracle Real Application Clusters 11g, and NetApp certifies Voltaire Grid Backbone InfiniBand switches

SAN FRANCISCO -- Voltaire Ltd.(NASDAQ: VOLT), a leading provider of grid backbone solutions for the datacenter, today announced that its InfiniBand-based solutions are availablefor OracleR Real Application Clusters 11g. The combination of Oracle RealApplication Clusters running on Voltaire's InfiniBand-based switches andsoftware delivers faster application-level performance than clusters usingEthernet. The solution also enables greater scalability so customers candeploy larger Oracle Database clusters than ever before.
Postbank, one of the largest retail banks in Germany and a beta customer ofthe latest release of Oracle Real Applications Clusters, has tested theircash withdrawal processing application running on HP Proliant serversinterconnected with a Voltaire Grid SwitchT 20 Gigabits/second InfiniBandswitch. Postbank's application, which relies heavily on the performance ofthe cluster interconnect, has experienced a 50 percent boost in performanceusing the combined Oracle-Voltaire solution.(*)

Whencombined with NetApp FAS systems, the solution alleviates one of the largestbottlenecks in large clustered environments: storage file I/O.
