Verari Announces Business Unit

SAN DIEGO -- Verari Systems, the premier developer of energy-efficient data center and desktop consolidation platforms utilizing independent blade-based compute and storage solutions, today announced the formation of the Verari Systems Storage Group. The new business unit targets the needs of the high-growth Web 2.0 and Grid markets with high density, power and cooling efficient, blade-based storage solutions.

In addition, Verari announced it is appointing Kevin McGrath, current Senior Vice President of Engineering, to oversee and manage the Storage Group business unit. McGrath has an extensive background in storage systems hardware and software development that includes tenure at companies such as Amdahl, BMC Software, Legato Systems, and EMC.

“In 2007, Verari successfully distributed blade-based storage for the Web 2.0 marketplace, shipping over 30 petabytes of storage which represents more than half of the company’s revenue,” said Mark Bowker, Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “With over 50 petabytes of storage shipped to date, Verari has seen the vast potential opportunity that Web 2.0 requirements create and it is set to introduce a new business division focused on dense computing and storage capacity to meet these distinctive needs.”
