CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced the recipients of its Symantec Research Labs Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to exceptional graduate students who demonstrate a desire to work in laboratory research in the information technology industry and to those investigating innovative solutions to real-world problems in information security, storage and systems management. After an extensive selection process, the Symantec Research Labs team has identified Polo Chau and Junghee Lim to receive full one-year fellowships covering 100 percent of tuition and fees, along with a competitive stipend to fund ongoing research in their respective areas of expertise.

Symantec's Graduate Fellowship program will pair Chau and Lim with mentors from Symantec Research Labs. The mentor is a top researcher who can provide ongoing technical guidance on the recipient's research during their graduate training as well as during summer internships at Symantec. To enhance their research efforts, Chau and Lim will also be able to leverage Symantec's extensive Global Intelligence Network, which monitors Internet activity across 180 countries.

"Symantec is committed to helping future generations excel in technology," said Darren Shou, senior manager of the Symantec Research Labs University Research Program. "We support the most promising student researchers in their efforts to combat challenges across the security, storage and systems management landscape."
