(DNF), today announced a technologypartnership with emBoot, Inc. that delivers software-based boot from SANcapabilities to reduce the total cost of IP SAN ownership through improvedIT resource consolidation for StoneFly customers worldwide.
When IT departments can implement servers that boot from volumes on the IPSAN, they gain a number of benefits, according to Mo Tahmasebi, CEO of DNF."Boot from SAN offers customers the ability to recover servers quickly aswell as deploy diskless and virtualized servers, while also making it easierfor organizations to centralize IT management," he said. StoneFly has completed testing and certification of its IP SANs for use withemBoot's winBoot/i, for Windows environments, and netBoot/i, for Linuxplatforms. StoneFly customers can now leverage these products to centralizestorage as well as disk images, operating systems and virtual servers,significantly reducing the time required for tedious IT tasks, such asreplacing failed servers. emBoot's solutions also eliminate the need topurchase cost-prohibitive new hardware to perform these same functions, andoffer users the ability to take advantage of TCP/IP Offload Engines (TOE),10Gb adapters and standard Ethernet cards to further advance their IP SANdeployments. In addition, they meet compliance standards such as HIPPA andSarbanes-Oxley, and support SEC rules.
