International news agency Reuters is testing a streaming video service that's available to Web sites at no charge.
To tap into the service, called the Reuters Affiliate Network program, Web site operators have to first register through the British company's labs site.
Following registration, site operators will get access to tools for embedding the Reuters video player, which is Windows and Mac compatible. The player is integrated into a Web page, and doesn't use pop-ups or need software installs.
During the testing period, Reuters is offering at no charge 20 of the latest international news stories, which are updated throughout the day. Advertising, however, may be shown.
The player features include fast forward, previous video, next video, play all, and volume control with mute capability. The new program stems from a partnership between Reuters and Internet TV service provider Brightcove.
