Radiology Group Picks Isilon

SEATTLE -- Isilon(R) Systems, the leader in clustered storage, today announced that Austin Radiological Association
(ARA) has deployed Isilon IQ to help support one of the largest diagnostic imaging operations in the United States. ARA, which has consistently applied the latest advancements in information technology to create new breakthroughs in diagnostic imaging, is using Isilon IQ to store and access digital mammography images used in detecting and combating breast cancer.

ARA has also deployed Isilon's SnapShotIQ software for data protection and Isilon's SyncIQ software for asynchronous data replication. Additionally, ARA runs 11 digital imaging centers and serves as a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) hosting facility for more than five of the largest hospitals in central Texas and processes more than one million patient procedures per year.

"To fulfill our mission of providing the highest quality radiology services to our patients and physicians we have placed a great emphasis in applying the latest advancements in medical informatics, including the deployment of a state-of-the-art picture archiving system," said Todd Thomas, CIO, Austin Radiological Association. "Storage is clearly a core component of our PACS system and we chose Isilon clustered storage because it provides the scalability, ease of use, performance and enterprise-class availability that we require to transform diagnostic imaging into new breakthroughs in patient care."
