Rackable Claims Oracle Benchmark

FREMONT, Calif. -- Rackable Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:RACK), a leading provider of servers and storage products for large-scale data centers, today announced that a Rackable Systems server, supporting Oracle Fusion Middleware, set a record breaking performance for a single node x86 system supporting the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard benchmark.

A record performance of 1,672.64 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second) was achieved on Rackable Systems C2002 Eco-Logical™ high efficiency servers powered by dual Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® 2.66 GHz processors on Linux supporting Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 coupled with Oracle Database.1 This outstanding performance beats a previous record-setting performance announced by Rackable Systems in July, 2007.2

SPECjAppServer2004 is a client/server benchmark for measuring the performance of a representative J2EE application and each of the components that make up the application environment, including hardware, application server software, JVM software, database software, JDBC drivers and the system network. The workload is an application that emulates information flow among an automotive dealership, manufacturing, supply chain management and an order/inventory system.

“Our most recent world record demonstrates Rackable Systems’ leadership in providing scalable, high performance solutions capable of meeting even the most demanding performance requirements in the enterprise,” said Mark J. Barrenechea, president and CEO of Rackable Systems. “The ability to set world performance records while enabling data centers to reduce power and cooling is a unique advantage that sets us apart.”
