Online Job Recruitment Showing Monster Growth

Demand for online workers across the U.S. and across the occupational board soared in March, according to the latest Monster Worldwide's Employment Index released Thursday. The index jumped 7 points in March to 164.

Online recruitment in business and financial sectors rose dramatically paced by demand for accounting, auditing and human resources workers. Monster said the March numbers represented a continuing three-month growth trend. Most industries registered gains and all nine U.S. Census Bureau regions showed increased online job availability in the month.

"Improved job market conditions have also been driving worker turnover, as employees take advantage of new opportunities and a tighter job market for skilled workers," said Steve Pogorzelski, a Monster group president, in a statement. "The hiring outlook continues to bode well for job seekers and for this spring's new crop of college graduates."

The online careers company said computer and mathematics positions showed particularly strong growth in March for the third month in a row. The gains, Monster said, suggested there will be continued strong growth in technology payrolls in future months.

Monster said strong business growth in recent months seems to be driving the employment and payroll gains.
