NetForensics enhances event log management solution with architecture, scalability and data-collection improvements
December 18, 2007
EDISON, N.J. -- netForensics, Inc., a pioneer and global leader in Security Information Management (SIM), today introduced version 6.0 of nFX Log One, its enterprise-class event log management solution that helps organizations gain control of their volumes of log files, reduce risk, and meet regulatory and industry compliance requirements. New features include architecture and scalability enhancements for collecting syslog data, expanded data collection, compression and validation capabilities, 64-bit windows platform support, and an enhanced Web-based user interface for reports administration. With these new features, nFX Log One offers increased operational visibility and comprehensive reporting for audit and compliance to large enterprises, as well as to mid-tier and small-to-medium size organizations.
Improved Architecture Enables High-Data Volume Management
nFX Log One now offers organizations of any size with a flexible multi-tier distributed architecture that scales to meet the demands of todays high-data volume environments. This new architecture features advanced filtering options that offer the ability to deploy multiple dedicated collectors for Syslog and Syslog-NG. Dedicated collectors ensure reliable and consistent data collection by balancing the load of high-volume servers while reducing potential single points of failure within the network. Further, by implementing advanced filtering and configuration options, nFX Log One provides administrators more flexibility in customizing their data collection methods to meet compliance and storage requirements.
Data-Collection Enhancements Ensures Complete Enterprise Coverage
In addition to improving the overall scalability and architecture of nFX Log One, the solution now collects log data from most sources and systems, as well as traditional system logs such as Windows event log and syslog, delivering full enterprise coverage. The ability to collect and manage log files from a variety of systems and applications allows users to maximize the value of existing audit data. Additional key benefits include:
Log rotation and compression to reduce the associated costs for hardware storage, as well as provide improved performance when executing log data queries, log collection and backup.
Strong cryptographic digital signatures and validation of log file integrity across the enterprise to meet compliance requirements. All log file types can be digitally signed and validated for authenticity via industry standard algorithms. Validation reports verify the authenticity of all aggregated log files across the enterprise and provide proof of compliance efforts.
Secure log archiving and optional log encryption for Windows event logs and syslog to a storage appliance for ensuring secure log management.
“Every organization is subject to security-related mandates and must collect, document and securely store event log data to ensure this information is presentable for compliance audits,” said Tracy Hulver, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, netForensics. “We offer one of the industry’s most robust log management solutions available today. As nFX Log One eliminates much of the cost, complexity and administrative headaches normally associated with log management, organizations receive the benefits of improved security, even with limited personnel and tight budgets.”
