Motorola's mobile VPN has been beefed-up for public safety and government workers roaming among wireless networks, Motorola said Tuesday.

The Multi-Net Mobility (MNM) solution now includes a new network-switching feature that has been added to MNM's Intelligent Routing suite. The new enhancements include the automatic switching of data between networks when users move from one to another network. Data packets are sent to both networks during the transition period.

The upgrades also enable MNM to interoperate with Motorola's Astro Integrated Voice and Data as well as with Motorola's High Performance Data (HPD) systems.

"The addition of Astro Integrated Voice and Data and High Performance Data interoperability will enable our customers to move seamlessly between wide area and broadband data networks," Nick Rendone, vice president of Motorola's Data Solutions Organization, Networks & Enterprise, said in a statement.
