PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced the appointment of David E. Roberson to senior vice president and general manager of the company's enterprise storage business, effective May 30.

Roberson was most recently chief executive officer of Hitachi Data Systems Corp. (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. As head of HP StorageWorks, he will be responsible for building on HP's foundation as a leading provider of storage solutions and pursuing new opportunities for growth worldwide.

Roberson will report to Scott Stallard, senior vice president and general manager of HP Enterprise Servers and Storage. He succeeds Bob Schultz, who has continued to run HP StorageWorks after his appointment in January to senior vice president and general manager of the newly formed HP Enterprise Server and Storage Software organization.

"We are fortunate to have an executive of Dave's stature to run HP StorageWorks. He is an accomplished industry veteran with considerable expertise in all areas of business leadership," said Stallard. "I would also like to thank Bob Schultz for his outstanding contributions to HP StorageWorks over the past four years, which included tremendous growth in our EVA business as well as the launch of our successful All-in-One storage solutions for small and mid-sized businesses."
