Hotel Chain Backs Up
Interstate Hotels & Resorts has deployed Sepaton's enterprise class VTL, the S2100-ES2, to backup and restore its critical financial data

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- SEPATON, Inc., the leader in high-performance data protection solutions, today announced that one of the nation's largest independent hotel management companies, Interstate Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: IHR) has deployed its enterprise class virtual tape library (VTL), the S2100-ES2, to backup and restore its critical financial data. The use of the S2100-ES2 follows Interstate Hotels & Resorts’ previous investment in SEPATON’s VTL for remote offices and small and medium size businesses.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts’ IT environment is made up of predominantly Microsoft servers, along with an IBM AIX system that supports its mission-critical Lawson-based financial applications and its Oracle database. Its storage environment includes NetApp Filers and Legato NetWorker version 7 backup software. The NetApp Filers house the business’ most important data which includes its sales and catering database, SQL databases, Microsoft Exchange server, Lawson-related files and databases, time clock systems that record employee hours and payable time, employees’ shared directories, and more.
The hotel management company was already benefiting from SEPATON’s S2100-DS VTL when it sought to add capacity so it was a familiar process to once again turn to SEPATON. “Our data requirements had grown considerably over the past couple of years and we needed to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance by keeping three weeks worth of data onsite and as well as offsite for disaster recovery purposes,” explained Vesal Tirgari, network engineer for Interstate Hotels & Resorts. “We determined the S2100-DS remained a good choice for backing up our system files residing on mainly Microsoft Servers but we needed more horse-power for faster backups and to assure meeting our RPO and RTO.”
