Gnome Servers Attacked
The latest OS security breach proves no technology is immune.

Other attacks against open-source targets have slowed work at the Debian and Gentoo sites. There was even an attempt to compromise beta Linux kernel code.
With attacks becoming more sophisticated, Linux server operators will need to spend additional time hardening application code, type-checking data, comparing input strings with known-good templates and inspecting output strings for illicit data.
So far, only online-project servers, not the general population of open-source ones, have been adversely affected. Still, the latest open-source security breaches prove that no technology community or OS is immune from danger. For the foreseeable future, Linux users will have to take the kinds of precautions familiar to those who work in other operating environments.
