DALLAS -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the market leader in disk-based data protection solutions, today announced the availability of two new FalconStor Virtual Tape Library (VTL) products, further extending the market reach of the company’s industry-leading VTL technology. The FalconStor VTL Storage Appliance provides turnkey data protection for remote office, departmental and mid-market customers while the FalconStor VTL Virtual Appliance, a pre-configured virtual machine image, delivers the first VTL solution for VMware® Virtual Infrastructure 3 environments. Both products include FalconStor VTL integrated with Single Instance Repository (SIR) technology for enterprise-wide data de-duplication. These new, easy to deploy solutions provide a flexible, high-speed backup interface (1Gb iSCSI or 4Gb FC) and tape-format aware de-duplication to maximize storage efficiency and data retention. FalconStor will demonstrate these solutions at Storage Networking World, Booth C24.

“The VTL Storage appliance is a great solution for us,” said Paul Wang, President, Solution-Soft. “It’s easy to implement, gives us a high-performance VTL to reduce the backup window, and the de-duplication has already surpassed our expectations. We’ve also increased our backup performance by up to 70%. I’d say that’s impressive ROI.”

“COPAN customers around the world are realizing the value of our decision to combine the best attributes of the COPAN MAID platform with advanced software features from FalconStor for VTL-based data protection,” said Jon Mellon, Senior Vice President Marketing and Business Development, COPAN Systems. “FalconStor has developed the only VTL and data de-duplication technology that scales from a small remote office to an enterprise data center. This ability to scale is why FalconStor Software and COPAN enhanced MAID platform is an unmatched combination.”

"The market continues to see an increasing demand for more efficient storage technologies, like de-duplication," said Robert Amatruda, research director at IDC. "With its new appliances, FalconStor is extending its VTL and de-duplication software to new markets, specifically the midrange and virtual environments. Solutions like these drive adoption by lowering the barrier to entry for customers with easier implementation and lower costs."
