SUNNYVALE, Calif.(BUSINESS WIRE) Blue Coat Systems, Inc., the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today introduced Reporter 9.2, the latest version of its powerful reporting tool that provides administrators with visibility into Web activity and potential threats on the network. Blue Coat Reporter 9.2 features three new reports that enable security administrators to evaluate risk and quickly identify users infected with malicious content, including malware.
"As Web threats continue to proliferate, security administrators need tools that can provide visibility into the Web activity on their networks," said Carrie Oakes, vice president of product marketing and management at Blue Coat Systems. "With Reporter, administrators have an invaluable tool that provides detailed information about Web usage as well as information on potential threats and infected users."
Blue Coat Reporter analyzes log data from its layered Internet gateway and cloud defenses, including Blue Coat ProxySG and ProxyAV appliances, WebFilter and ProxyClient, and presents it in a unified, user-friendly graphical dashboard. The three new reports join existing security analysis reports in Reporter that help administrators identify and isolate potential threats, including reports on malware IDs, IP detail, URL detail and user detail.
One of the new reports, the potential threats dashboard, combines intelligence from Blue Coat ProxyAV appliances with intelligence from Blue Coat WebFilter and the WebPulse service to display information about malware or malicious content that has infected users. The new report, trend of potential threats, lets administrators quickly analyze day-to-day changes in the number of requests to sites categorized as malware or malware-related, as well as the number of malware payloads blocked by ProxyAV appliances. The addition of the risk groups report enables administrators to group similar URL categories into a single category such as "threat" or "bandwidth usage" to more quickly identify and manage issues.
In addition to enhancing visibility into potential threats, Reporter 9.2 can also report on search keywords from leading search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing and others, enabling security and IT administrators to identify the root cause of malicious search results. Administrators can produce reports based on user, group, site or other category. To protect networks from being overwhelmed by Web content Reporter 9.2 also provides trend analysis of rich media traffic. This analysis helps administrators effectively utilize the stream splitting, caching and bandwidth management controls in ProxySG appliances and set policies to protect Web-based business applications.Additional features in Reporter 9.2 include enhanced role-based controls and audit tracking that provide managers with visibility into the Web activity of their direct reports and a Web API that allows auditors and third party management consoles to export reports in PDF and CSV formats. Reporter 9.2 is now available in Standard, Enterprise or Premium editions. The upgrade is free of charge for customers with existing licenses to Reporter.
