Storage vendors form a consortium to help restore data after the September 11th attacks

A consortium of data storage companies has organized data recovery services for businesses in the New York area that have been affected by the attacks of September 11th.
The consortium, dubbed Recover NY, includes Overland Data (Nasdaq: OVRL), Exabyte Corp. (Nasdaq: EXBT, Qualstar Corp. (NASDAQ: QBAK), Quantum Corp. (NYSE: DSS), ADIC, BakBone Software Inc. (Toronto: BKB), CommVault Systems Inc., Computer Associates International (NYSE: CA), Legato Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: LGTO), StorageTek (NYSE: STK) and Veritas Software Corp. (Nasdaq: VRTS).
The group is offering a range of products and services, including hardware and software on loan, hotline support, and equipment repair.
"With expertise in the area of data backup and recovery, specifically at the tape level, we may be able to play a role in helping any of the organizations that were affected get their data back," says Chris Calisi, president and CEO of Overland Data.
