Vitria Delivers SOA Integration Tools

Vitria Technology today launched a new integration suite focused on using open standards, like the Eclipse modeling environment, to help companies integrate their service-oriented and event-driven application architectures.

Vitria says it isn't abandoning its BusinessWare application integration suite. However, Business Accelerator does mark a change of focus for the company, two weeks after it was taken private by its founders. Under increasing pressure from competitive SOA platforms, Vitria is moving further up the stack by aiming to integrate different SOAs rather than simply different applications.
This should appeal to enterprises that have multiple SOA initiatives or islands of Web services that don't work well together. It also can help others migrate from one SOA platform to another. But some may see it as yet another layer of middleware.

Best known for its legacy application and B2B integration capabilities-- including its BusinessWare software--Vitria now turns its attention to broader process integration issues (see analysis, right).
