Report Says Porn Not Killer Mobile App

Pornography delivered to mobile devices will generate $5 billion in revenue to vendors by 2010 but isn't a killer mobile application, according to a Strategy Analytics report released this week.

The problem that purveyors of mobile porn face is the superior user experience using standard broadband and desktop PCs, according to the report.

"Adult services are not a killer application in waiting," senior analyst, Nitesh Patel said in a statement. "With so much free pornography available on the fixed Internet, and mobility conferring only limited advantages to adult content, we believe that demand for adult material will continue to be largely met by fixed Internet services."

Patel noted that adult entertainment publishers will undoubtedly offer mobile access as an option for subscribers but that won't be enough to make mobile porn a major factor.
