Savvis Expands Hosting Portfolio

ST. LOUIS -- SAVVIS, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), the global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, today announced the launch of a new hosting service, SAVVIS Foundation Hosting, and the availability of the HP BladeSystem c-Class on SAVVIS Intelligent Hosting and Virtual Intelligent Hosting IT infrastructure services.

SAVVIS Foundation Hosting is the newest addition to SAVVIS’ hosting portfolio and serves as a bridge for customers choosing between colocation and managed IT solutions. While the evolution of IT services continues to move toward virtualized and utility services that allow customers to gain the economic benefits of multi-tenant infrastructure, there are still many customers who are not ready to outsource the management of their operating system (OS) so they choose to colocate and internally manage their IT environments.

SAVVIS Foundation Hosting allows colocation customers to maintain control of their OS including licensing, installation, monitoring and management of the OS, but eliminates burdens such as server hardware procurement, racking and stacking, space and power management, and onsite support. The new offering provides use of a dedicated standalone server (supports HP ProLiant DL series servers), network services on SAVVIS’ Hosting Area Network (HAN), colocation space in SAVVIS’ managed hosting area, power for the Foundation Hosting servers, and failed hardware replacement services with a customer-initiated trouble ticket.

SAVVIS Foundation Hosting also provides a remote access feature that allows customers to install their operating systems without requiring physical access to the server. The managed hosting offering is now available in SAVVIS data centers in the US and Asia Pacific regions.

SAVVIS also announced the global availability of the HP BladeSystem c-Class for SAVVIS’ Intelligent Hosting and Virtual Intelligent Hosting IT infrastructure services.
