Viewfinity Privilege Management Locks Down Desktops And Laptops: Page 2 of 2

Viewfinity has announced a new version of its Privilege Management security software. The software lets IT administrators "lock down" PCs and prevent users from having administrative privileges, but also gives users some ability to install a configured list of items on their personal computers and laptops. Version 3.5 adds features such as the ability for users to request additional privileges from IT administrators, reports on PCs that are not locked down, the ability to "record" user activity

The company's future strategy is compelling because managing Web apps and the user access to those apps is key for cloud, says Karin Kelley, an analyst for The 451 Group. She did note that Viewfinity is lacking support for Macintosh PCs, Linux computers and custom reports.

Pricing for Viewfinity Privilege Management starts at $20 per desktop annually for a software as a service (SaaS)-based subscription. Enterprises also have the option to go with a perpetual licensing model, listing at $40 per desktop. The company has about 75 small and large companies across a variety of vertical industries. The software is available now.
