Verizon Acquires Security Vendor Cybertrust

Cybertrust brings a range of services that can augment Verizon Business' existing managed security portfolio, which was focused on device-oriented management. Cybertrust brings a global security service that matches its global managed network and telecom services. Most importantly, Cybertrust's Identity Management solution, including a Public root CA, managed PKI services, Identrus membership and other access-management products and services, fast-tracks Verizon into government and financial sectors. None of the Tier 1 telecom companies currently have a security portfolio to match the Verizon acquisition of Cybertrust in the United States and positions Verizon Business against BT in Europe. BT acquired Counterpane in October 2006.
