Tachyon Rolls Out Expanded Satellite VoIP Service

Satellite broadband solutions provider Tachyon Networks Inc. announced expanded voice over IP (VoIP) services for enterprise and government customers at the Satellite 2005 conference in Washington, D.C. yesterday.

According to Tachyon, the new service prioritizes voice packets over data during transmission, providing for more efficient and reliable VoIP connections with minimal packet loss and higher quality. Indeed, the company says that it is backing up the service with what it calls "industry-leading" service level agreements.

Tachyon's satellite VoIP service offering highly customizable configuration options and supports many international VoIP standards, providing management of packet loss and jitter. According to the company, the service is compatible with all major VoIP providers.

"Our customers in both the enterprise and government sectors have demanded this service as they seek to minimize the number of providers they must manage," Tachyon president and CEO Peter Carides said in a statement. "Our guaranteed VoIP service will be of great value to those customers who require vital voice and data communications options in times of network congestion or failure, or when traditional landline networks are unavailable or unreliable."
