Nokia Corp. on Wednesday said it has sued two Chinese companies for allegedly manufacturing and selling mobile phones based on Nokia's designs.

Defendants Shenzhen Telsda Mobile Communication Industry Developing Co. Ltd. and Song Xun Da Zhong Ke Electronic (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. allegedly copied the designs for the Nokia 7260 mobile phone. Both manufacturers are based in Shenzhen, China.

Nokia is asking the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court to order the defendants to stop selling and making the phones, and to pay monetary damages and costs. The court accepted the case on June 12, the Finnish phone maker said.

Nokia named as co-defendants mobile-phone distributors Beijing Tongwanbao Commerce & Trade Co. Ltd., An Wai Avenue No. 2 Branch and Beijing Xin Tongwanbao Commerce & Trade Co. Ltd.
