The Global IP Alliance, a consortium of IP and VoIP suppliers and providers, announced Monday that it has established a matrix of information covering IP-based communications technology and regulations. The matrix is aimed at keeping government, industry, and consumers up-to-date on IP and VoIP developments.
"We acknowledge that technology can solve many problems when policy doesn't unnecessarily get in the way," stated VoIP pioneer Jeff Pulver, who is acting chairman of the alliance, in a statement. The "Global IP Alliance Wiki" is designed in part to disseminate information on emerging IP technologies and the ever-changing regulatory scene in the world's nations.
Julie Hedlund, strategic advisor to the Alliance, added in a statement: "The Alliance will also serve to demonstrate the emerging IP-based communications industry is capable of self-governance without the need for stringent regulatory interference or prescriptive oversight."
