SteelEye Gets IBM Certification

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. -- SteelEye Technology Inc., a leading provider of IT reliability solutions for business continuity, today announced its LifeKeeper Protection Suite for IBM Rational ClearCase has become the first Linux clustering solution to receive IBM's "Ready for IBM Rational" validation. This validation demonstrates integration with key products in IBM Software Development Platform.

LifeKeeper seamlessly integrates into Rational ClearCase environments to provide monitoring and failover protection of the entire Rational ClearCase environment running on Linux, including the Registry Server, Release Area, and Versioned Object Base (VOB) and View Storage. LifeKeeper provides a mechanism to monitor and recover protected ClearCase services either locally on the same server where the processes are currently running or from a failed primary server onto a backup server. LifeKeeper detects failures either at the server level (via a heartbeat) or at resource level (by monitoring the ClearCase daemons), so that control of the protected Rational ClearCase services is transferred to a backup server. LifeKeeper provides full support for MultiSite and single site configurations.

"The openness and cost benefits of Linux are key factors that are driving its adoption as the platform of choice by software development organisations worldwide," said Bob Williamson, vice president of products and technology for SteelEye Technology, Inc. "The LifeKeeper Protection Suite for Rational ClearCase ensures that development teams using the power of Rational ClearCase can also take advantage of the benefits of Linux while ensuring the highest levels of availability protection of their development environment."
