Shakeup in the Storage Business: Page 2 of 3

It seems just when we thought things were getting interesting with Oracle buying Sun, we find ourselves experiencing a little more disruption with today's announcements -- although leadership change at the right time can be a very good thing. For EMC, Dave Donatelli launched the new V-Max -- and new management may help to accelerate its sales. For HP, there are certainly new innovations and positive product mix changes ahead.

Will any of these personnel changes have a direct effect on the day-to-day operations of the average data center? Probably none that will felt immediately, but perhaps some that will be felt over time as new leadership takes control and sets the direction for their respective storage offerings.

It has certainly been an interesting few weeks in the IT business. I can't wait to see what the month of May has in store for us. Will there be more management shakeups? Will IBM counter Oracle's move on Sun and purchase a systems/storage vendor? At this point, we can certainly expect the unexpected.
