ProStor Systems Announces General Availability of ProStor InfiniVault Model 5, Offers New Low Price for Product Family

BOULDER, CO - OCTOBER 13, 2009 - ProStor Systems, the leader in enterprise-class removable disk storage systems for business backup, archiving and retention management, today announced the general availability of the new ProStor InfiniVault Model 5.  ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 meets the storage needs of the SMB (small-to-medium businesses) that may have two different data retention requirements, and where two copies of the data are necessary for disaster protection.

The ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is an integrated storage appliance in a tower design with 5 slots for RDX removable disks and a 1.8TB file area that can manage 250 million files. Using 500GB RDX removable disk cartridges, ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is able to keep 2.5TB (5TB compressed) data online (in RDX removable disk cartridges) and an infinite amount of data capacity offline.  In an application requiring two separate retention periods, the Model 5 can be configured to provide self protection while allowing RDX removable disks to be sent offsite for disaster protection. This makes the Model 5 the best choice in these applications and an ideal complement to the ProStor InfiniVault Model 3 which is designed with 700GB of file area and only a single retention period when self protecting data.

The ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is the most cost-effective solution for long-term preservation of data (5 years or more) for a small-to-medium business or organization, and includes a rich feature set critical to industry-specific data retention requirements, including HIPAA (for healthcare), SEC Rule 17a-4 (stockbrokers and dealers), Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Federal Rules for Civil Procedure and more. To date, ProStor InfiniVault is being used in a variety of markets including finance, government, healthcare, enterprise content management and gaming.

Henry Baltazar, storage analyst at The 451 Group, observes, "Data archiving and compliance continue to be difficult challenges for SMB customers given that most products on the market today cater to enterprise customers with much larger budgets.  With the release of the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5, small compliance-sensitive businesses now have a relatively low cost platform to help them meet their long term data retention needs."

"Just because a company is small does not mean that their active archiving needs are non-existent. They demand the same level of reliability and feature set.  However, their requirements for size are modest compared to those of larger enterprises.  With the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5, that customer does not need to make any compromises," added Arun Taneja, Founder and Consulting Analyst, Taneja Group.
