HP also unveiled a low-cost Virtualization Bundle that starts at $6,000 and includes ProLiant G6 servers, ProCurve networking gear, VMware vSphere, HP LeftHand SAN appliances or software and HP's Insight Control software to manage it all. "We are trying to offer a very easy way to get into VMware," John said. "Smaller companies like the idea of being able to save money with virtualization, but they have found that it can be complex from a shared storage perspective. Sometimes the additional costs associated with shared storage can exceed the cost savings from server virtualization. This is a very scalable approach that can grow from a single server running basic VMware up to a multi-site disaster recovery SAN."
HP also introduced HP Secure Remote Access to let mobile workers securely connect to business applications. The package includes servers, storage, networking, PCs and printers. The HP 4410t Mobile Thin Client lets companies offer server-based computing to mobile workers while maintaining security and centralized management. The company also introduced HP Total Care Branch Office Consolidation, a bundle of servers, storage, networking, PCs and printers to help companies consolidate branch locations into a single site.
On the printer front, HP said the LaserJet Enterprise P3010 Printer series can save up to 50 percent on energy consumption with HP Instant-on Technology. It also introduced HP Smart Template Printing, which provides free, customizable templates for printing marketing materials and business documents. It also unveiled its first entry-level, wide-format printer with individual inks, the HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer.
