Digi-Data, OS Storage Partner

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Digi-Data Corporation, a manufacturer of high-speed, high-capacity RAID solutions, and Open Source Storage (OS Storage), a developer of archival software, have joined to offer multi-tiered storage solutions to the broadcast industry. The partnership integrates performance RAID technology with a robust archive solution.

As we broaden our partnerships, we want companies that can help us add functionality to our systems, while bringing the right market expertise to better serve our customers,” explains Dan Oister, VP of marketing and alliances at Digi-Data. “The OS Storage team offers proven, Information Lifecycle management (ILM) archival software backed by over 15 years of broadcast and rich media experience.”

As a result of this new partnership, users can leverage storage automation to easily store and protect old or unused digital assets for later use. With the implementation of disk power management, there is an additional green, or energy efficient, component to the service. This innovative solution provides Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) across multiple tiers, adding tape or optical disk automation support for customers with existing technologies.

“Digi-Data is recognized worldwide for providing its customers with the latest technologies designed to increase productivity, reduce operating costs and improve quality in a fully integrated digital broadcast environment,” states Chuck Larabie, vice president of Open Source Storage. “Our OSVault is the perfect complement for Digi-Data’s high speed disk solutions. The automatic replication of data to a permanent open archive ensures that the customer preserves their valuable assets for the future.”
