    Cost: Starts at $20 per host with volume discounts; five host minimum

    LogicMonitor is designed to give IT managers a consolidated view of their switches, routers, firewalls, servers, storage arrays and applications via a single Web portal. The service uses pre-defined alert thresholds to warn of data center issues, but admins can tune the thresholds to prevent being overwhelmed by false alarms. By entering a device hostname or IP address, LogicMonitor automatically starts monitoring the device, eliminating the need for IT staff to write scripts.

    Cost: The Standard Edition is $14 per technician per month. The Enterprise Edition is $54 per technician per month and $9 per month for a pack of 50 assets

    ServiceDesk Plus On-Demand is a SaaS-based help-desk application based on ITIL. It includes a self-service portal, a Web-based knowledge base, SLA management, email integration, and multi-site support. The Enterprise edition also feature asset management. Technicians on the road can use mobile versions of the service, which are available for Android and iOS.

    AppNeta's hosted service aims to provide comprehensive visibility into network performance and application traffic. It includes integrated SNMP device monitoring and can monitor Unified Communications applications. The service uses a lightweight appliance; the appliance is also available with a higher capacity for larger data center operations.

    The Service Desk cloud service is designed to provide end users with an interactive, social-media like interface to IT services. Users in need of something from IT can open a chat session or request help similar to the way they make online purchases.

    Swiss-based Kaseya offers a range of SaaS IT management tools that are available either as a bundle or separately. The Kaseya SaaS bundle includes multi-platform management, audit and inventory, patch management, agent monitoring, mobile device management, ticketing, and policy management.

    This service from Canadian company ASCI Connect offers a consolidated view across single and multi-vendor networks. NMC classifies a wide range of applications, including video and voice streaming. Streamlined reports aim to help network admins quickly diagnose problems and prevent them from recurring.

    Startup Boundary offers an IT management service that can monitor infrastructure regardless of language and technology stacks. It can provide insight into cloud applications using Amazon Web Services, a big plus for many IT operations teams. Behavioral-based alerts provide trend analysis and anomaly detection.

    Loggly, a San Francisco-based startup, provides a cloud-based log management service that takes logs from applications and servers and puts them into a central location for easy searches and troubleshooting. The Loggly service supports data from both syslog based services and HTTP POSTs. IT teams can use the service for deployment, performance and application monitoring.
