Chain Uses Surveillance

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. -- Global ePoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:GEPT), a leading manufacturer of surveillance security technologies, announced today that a large national luxury department store will be upgrading Global ePoint's large enterprise video surveillance solution in at least 15 of their 55 stores nationwide. The equipment upgrades, which will include the luxury department flagship stores including New York and Beverly Hills, will take advantage of new MPEG4 compression technology and other features.

Using the same hard drives from previous models, the new compression technology provides a higher quality resolution with smaller file sizes for data storage, thus reducing the need for big bandwidth requirements to transfer data. The equipment upgrade will also incorporate specific features, which the store's asset protection department requested.

Global ePoint's Digital Division Vice President Allen Yung commented: "We value the long-standing relationships we have with our customers. It is an integral part of our business strategy to provide the option to upgrade to the latest technology available without having to replace existing systems, and we are pleased we could provide this prominent luxury retailer with the important additions that their surveillance system requires. We also see this repeat business as further validation of our products and technology as we target new customers such as casinos, airports, and other large retailers."
