Symantec Supports Exchange '07

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (NasdaqGS:SYMC - News) today announced that Backup Exec 11d, the leader in Windows data recovery, will support Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, thereby extending granular recovery and continuous data protection to customers migrating to the new email platform.

As with Exchange 2000 and 2003, Backup Exec 11d will redefine traditional protection of Exchange 2007 by eliminating the need for daily backups while allowing quick recovery of individual mailboxes, messages, and folders. Whether an organization runs Exchange 2007 in a standard deployment, a local continuous replication or a clustered continuous replication configuration, Backup Exec 11d helps to ensure that Exchange 2007 data is quickly recoverable and available. However, only Backup Exec 11d provides the ability to perform granular recovery from an Exchange 2007 replica, enabling businesses to recover critical Exchange data in seconds.

Backup Exec 11d will also provide support for Exchange 2007 in a complete 64-bit environment, as well as supporting both Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) versions included with Exchange 2007.

"For many of our customers, Microsoft Exchange is a critical business application, supporting and managing a vast amount of information that must be immediately available and protected," said Pat Hanavan, vice president, Data and Systems Management Group, Symantec Corp. "As these organizations adopt the new Exchange 2007 platform, Backup Exec 11d will continue to provide them with efficient, cost-effective continuous data backup and rapid recovery capabilities to protect their messaging environments."
