Clearly, Schulz points out, big players see demand for big NAS, big file storage, large unstructured hulks -- however you term it. They know vendors like Isilon and Panasas have succeeded in supplying this kind of storage, albeit on proprietary hardware geared to performance, not capacity. If the big storage players can rejigger their wares to offer much-needed capacity at low cost, what's not to love?
